Ohio Edison / FirstEnergy
The primary electric provider within Richland County is Ohio Edison, https://www.firstenergycorp.com/content/customer/ohio_edison.html, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy, located in Akron, Ohio.  Below are the average rates charged to Ohio Edison customers in our area.  Due to a change in Ohio law, you may now purchase the generated power from a number of suppliers.  FirstEnergy is the prime vendor at this time.  Multi-year contracts are available affording substantial savings on bulk purchase.  Rates are related to your yearly consumption and are negotiated with the supplier.  Contact FirstEnergy or the RCDG office.  We can lead you through the process.  Additional programs are available through FirstEnergy which can increase your savings based on your energy conservation initiatives.

In the southern portion of Richland County electricity is provided by AEP (American Electric Power http://www.aep.com/, based in Columbus, Ohio.  

Shelby Power & Light
In the northwest portion of the county, the City of Shelby owns their own Municipal Light plant and can supply rates upon request.

Water & Sewer

The major suppliers of water and sewer in Richland County are the City of Mansfield, followed by the City of Shelby and Ontario.

Water and Sanitary Sewer utilities in the City of Mansfield: 
To determine capacity of Mansfield city’s treatment plants, please contact the City Engineer at 419.755.9702.  Treatment and delivery capacity will depend on site location and proximity to the plant.

Water and Sanitary Sewer utilities in the City of Shelby: 
Published rates as of 1/1/2012 are Water - $.011965, Sewer - $.014394

Water and Sanitary Sewer utilities in the City of Ontario:
